PUBLIC NOTICE The Plumas County Search and Rescue Team is applying for a California Department of Parks and Recreation OHV grant under their Grants and Cooperative Agreements Program. If successful, our local SAR team will be purchasing two snowmobiles (one to be funded under the State's OHV Grant Program) to expand our Winter patrol and search and rescue capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for the local team, which has operated in Plumas County since 1976.
These new snowmobiles will allow the PCSAR faster access to the backcountry than their tracked vehicles, giving lost, stranded or injured snowmobilers a better chance of reaching safety and/or medical care as quickly as possible. They will also expand our team's patrol capabilities and help us cover many of the snowmobile events that take place in Plumas County each Winter.
This is the third grant application undertaken by PCSAR through the OHV grant program. Through the OHV grant program, they purchased a Polaris side-by-side and trailer in 2020 and a CanAm side-by-side and trailer in 2021, both of which have been put to great use on search and rescue calls and patrols over the vastness of the Plumas, Tahoe and Lassen National Forests.
Beginning Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, through Monday, May 6th, 2024, a draft of our grant application will be available for viewing and public comment at www.ohv.parks.ca.gov From that website, the public will be directed to the Grants/On-line Grant Application (OLGA) public review feature for instructions on how to submit their comments. Written public comments can also be mailed to PCSAR, PO Box 1774, Quincy, CA 95971.
